Resurfacing of McIntyre Road in Parow North
09 October 2023
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate advises road users and businesses in the Parow North area of roadworks along McIntyre Road between the N1 and Frans Conradie Drive. The resurfacing work commenced last week and is due to be completed on Friday, 17 November 2023, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. The road works will take place from 09:00 until 15:30 on weekdays and 08:00 to 18:00 over weekends when required.
The scope of the work is as follows:
- Installation of sections of kerb, channel and footway repairs;
- Construction of isolated asphalt base patches with hot-mix asphalt;
- Removing the existing surfacing and replacing it with hot-mix asphalt;
- Reinstatement of traffic lights at the intersections;
- Reinstating the road markings
Residents and commuters who make use of this stretch of road are advised that the traffic travelling in both directions on McIntyre Road will be affected as work is scheduled to take place on both carriageways.
'We would like to thank road users and businesses in Parow North for their patience during the course of this work. The road resurfacing will be done during normal daytime working hours and at least one lane will be open to traffic in each direction along McIntyre Road. The purpose of this work is to maintain the road surface to an acceptable standard,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
